शुभमुहूर्त ही भारताची खास वैशिष्टय़पूर्ण संकल्पना आहे. कोणतेही कार्य, शुभ हो अथवा अशुभ, मुहूर्ताशिवाय केले जात नाही.
किताब: भारतात लालकिताब नावाच्या एका पुस्तकाचा बोलबाला आहे. या पुस्तकात हस्तरेषाशास्त्र व ज्योतिष यांची सांगड घातली आहे. या पुस्तकातील भविष्य तंतोतंत जुळते असे म्हणणारे खूप लोक आहेत. या पुस्तकाचे खरे लेखक कोणीतरी वैदिक काळातील ऋषी असावेत असेही म्हणतात. तरीदेखील, वैदिक ज्योतिष व लालकिताब या ग्रंथातील पद्धतीत बरेच फरक आहेत. हे पुस्तक पंडित गिरिधारीलाल शर्मा यांनी 1939 साली (383 पाने) प्रसिद्ध केले. ते पंडित रूपचंदजी जोशी यांनी लिहिले. पण पुस्तकावर त्यानी लेखक म्हणून आपले नाव लिहिले नाही. त्या अर्थी ते त्यांचे मूळ लेखक नसावेत. त्याकाळी काही ताम्रपट लाहोरच्या जुन्या बांधकामात खोदाई करताना मिळाले. त्यावरून हे पुस्तक प्रकाशित केल्याचे मानले जाते. त्यामागोमाग 1940, 1941, 1942 व 1952 साली हे पुस्तक पुन:प्रकाशित झाले. शेवटच्या प्रकाशनात बर्याच नव्या गोष्टींची भरती झाली असावी. त्याची पाने वाढून 1173 झाली आहेत. अकबरकाळी भारताच्या जुन्या वैदिक ग्रंथांचे पारशीत भाषांतराचे काम मोठय़ा प्रमाणात झालेले आहे. त्याकाळी भाषांतरित ग्रंथ अरब जगात गेले व अर्वाचीन काळी पुन्हा भारतात येऊन त्यांची हिंदी भाषांतरे झाली असेही मानले जाते. लालकिताब हा ग्रंथ त्यातील उपाय किंवा तोडग्यांसाठी (Totaka) नावाजलेला आहे. पुस्तकाच्या पहिल्याच पानावर उद्देश लिहिलेले आहेत ते असे:
1. भाग्यात लिहिलेल्या संपत्तीचा ओघ अडविणारे अडथळे दूर करणे.
2. वर्तमान व भावी संकटांना थांबविण्याचे उपाय सुचविणे.
सामान्य माणूस करू शकेल असे तोडगे, जे आपत्ती निवारणासाठी वापरता येतात, त्यामुळे या पुस्तकाचा प्रचार झाला.
त्यातील काही उदाहरणादाखल दिलेले तोडगे असे :
1. पत्रिकेत सूर्य पहिल्या स्थानात असेल तर लवकर लग्न करा. घरात पाण्याचा नळ बसवा. दिवसा पत्नीशी संग करू नका. गूळ खाऊ नका. परोपकार करा. चारित्र्य शुद्ध ठेवा, माकडाला गूळ खाऊ घाला इत्यादी.
2. चंद्र प्रथमस्थानी असेल तर लाल हातरुमाल जवळ बाळगा. चारपाईला तांब्याचे खिळे ठोका. वडाच्या झाडाच्या मुळांना पाणी घाला. मुलासोबत प्रवास करताना नदीत तांब्याची नाणी टाका. वय 24 ते 27 या काळात लग्न करू नका. हिरवा रंग व मेहुणीपासून दूर राहा. चांदीच्या ताटवाटय़ा घरी बाळगू नका, काचेच्या वस्तू वापरू नका, आईचे आशीर्वाद रोज घ्या.
3. मंगळ प्रथमस्थानी असताना कोणतेही दान स्वीकारू नका. खोटे बोलू नका व साधुसंतांच्या संगतीत राहू नका. हस्तिदंताच्या वस्तू हाताळू नका. महा गायत्री मंत्राचा जप करा व मारुतीला शेंदराचे गंध लावा.
अशी ही यादी खूपच मोठी आहे.

हे परंपरागत ज्योतिषाचेच एक उपयोगी रूप (अप्लिकेशन) आहे. जिज्ञासू हा ज्योतिषशास्त्र खरे की खोटे तपासण्यासाठी या पुस्तकाचा उपयोग करीत नाही हे ध्यानात घ्यावे. त्याला काही अडचणी असतात. त्या कशा सोडवाव्यात हा प्रश्न त्याला भेडसावत असतो. हे पुस्तक म्हणजे त्याला वरदानच वाटते. यातच त्याच्या लोकप्रियतेचे रहस्य आहे.
बर्याच काही आध्यात्मिक ग्रंथांबद्दल असे म्हटले जाते की त्यात सकृत्दर्शनी लिहिलेले आहे तेच काय ते खरे असे नाही. त्यामागे खूपच गूढ अर्थ व संदेश भरलेला आहे, ते जाणणे आवश्यक आहे. तसेच या ग्रंथात जरी सर्व काही स्पष्टपणे लिहिलेले आहे तरीदेखील या ग्रंथाचा खरा अर्थ आम्हीच काय ते जाणतो असे सांगणारे पंडित आहेत. मूळ ग्रंथ उर्दू भाषेत आहे. त्याचे विविध भाषेत भाषांतर केलेल्या अनेक ग्रंथांची निर्मिती झालेली आहे. त्यामुळे कांही लोक या ग्रंथाचा खरा, गूढ अर्थ सांगण्यासाठी खास शिकवण्या घेतात असे इंटरनेटवरून जाणवते. असा प्रकार भृगुसंहितेबाबतदेखील झालेला दिसतो. त्याचा उल्लेख यापूर्वीच त्या त्या प्रकरणात झालेला आहे.
फलज्योतिष व हस्तसामुद्रिक शास्त्राविषयी असलेले कांही तर्कशास्त्रीय आक्षेप या पुस्तकाबाबत प्रकर्षाने जाणवतील असे आहेत. वर्तमानकालीन व भविष्यातील संकटनिवारण करणार्या उपायांवर एक तार्किक आक्षेप आहे. भविष्यकार भविष्य वर्तवितो तेव्हा भविष्यातील घटना या पूर्व निर्धारित आहेत हे गृहीत मानलेले आहे. भविष्यातील घटना पूर्वनिर्धारित नसतील तर ते ठामपणे वर्तविणे शक्य नाही हे सत्य नाकारता येत नाही. तोडगा काढून एखादी घटना जर बदलता येते तर ती पूर्वनिर्धारित कशी असा पुन्हा तार्किक सवाल उपस्थित होतो. भविष्यातील घटना ‘जर तर’च्या (Conditional or Optional reality)स्वरूपात आहेत असे मानले तर त्याहूनही मोठा तर्क भंग होतो. भविष्यातील घटना ‘जर-तर’ च्या स्वरूपात असून त्याच्या एकाहून जास्त शक्यता आहेत असे भविष्य वर्तविलेले माझ्या पाहण्या ऐकण्यात नाही. आजच्या एखाद्या तोडग्याने भविष्यातील घटना बदलत असेल तर भविष्य पूर्वनिर्धारित आहे असे म्हणणे तर्कशुद्ध नाही.
उदाहरणासाठी असे सम.जू की एका माणसाला मृत्युयोग आहे. एखाद्या तोडग्याने जर त्याचा मृत्यू टळत असेल तर आपण समजतो त्यापेक्षा कितीतरी अनेक घटनांवर या तोडग्याचा परिणाम होईल. तो माणूस मेला नाही तर त्याचे क्रियाकर्म वगैरे अनेक घटना रहित होतील. त्याच्या मृत्यूनंतर त्याचे वारस ज्या कृती करतील त्या सर्व रहित होतील याच न्यायाने त्याच्याशी संबंध असणार्या व्यक्तींच्या कृतीतही अनेक बदल होतील. तर्कदृष्टय़ा ही एकच घटना भविष्यातील अनेक घटनांवर दीर्घकाल परिणाम करेल. एखाद्या व्यक्तीने केलेल्या तोडग्यामुळे कितीतरी व्यक्तींचे भविष्य बदलेल हे ओघानेच आले. आता एक माणूस तोडगा करतो की नाही यावर भविष्यातील घटना अवलंबून राहतील व एकामुळे इतर अनेक लोकांची भविष्ये वर्तविणे अशक्य होईल, हा विरोधाभास आहे. या सिद्धांताचे स्वरूप समजण्यासाठी एक वाक्प्रचार वापरला जातो. ब्राझीलच्या जंगलातील एका फुलपाखराने पंख फडफडविले की नाही यावर अमेरिकेत वादळे येणार की नाही हे ठरते. असो. जर-तर स्वरूपाच्या भविष्याच्या एकाहून जास्त शक्यता यातून सूचित होतात. (Multiple Realities) मल्टिपल रिअँलिटीजवर आधारित अनेक कादंबर्या लिहिल्या गेल्या आहेत. अर्थात त्या काल्पनिक आहेत. भविष्यकार जर तसे मानत असेल तर त्याने एकाहून जास्त शक्यतांवर आधारित भविष्य वर्तविणे गरजेचे आहे. असे कोणी केलेले माझ्या वाचनात तरी आलेले नाही. तर्कशास्त्रानुसार आजची एक घटना भविष्यातील अनेक घटना बदलण्यास कारण बनते. या तर्कशास्त्रावर आधारित अनेक शास्त्रीय कथा कादंबर्या लिहिलेल्या आहेत. त्या कथानकाच्या निमित्ताने या विषयाची काहीशी चर्चा झालेली आहे.
