वाराणसी हे भारताच्या उत्तर प्रदेश राज्यातील गंगा नदीच्या काठावर वसलेले शहर आहे, जे हिंदूंसाठी सर्वात महत्वाचे तीर्थक्षेत्र आहे. मुक्ती आणि शुद्धीकरणासाठी अनेक लोक येथे येतात. वाराणसी, हिंदू धर्मासाठी सात पवित्र शहरांपैकी एक अतिशय प्रसिद्ध तीर्थक्षेत्र तसेच पर्यटन स्थळ आहे. येथे येणाऱ्या कोणत्याही व्यक्तीला या ठिकाणी आल्यानंतर खूप हलकं जाणवतं आणि येथील तीर्थस्थळांना भेट दिल्यानंतर धन्यता वाटते. येथे अनेक विशाल मंदिरांव्यतिरिक्त, वाराणसी घाट आणि इतर अनेक लोकप्रिय ठिकाणांपासून दरवर्षी लाखो पर्यटकांना आकर्षित करते. हे धार्मिक स्थळ केवळ भारतीय प्रवाशांनाच नाही तर परदेशी पर्यटकांनाही खूप आवडते.

उत्तर प्रदेशातील काशी भगवान शिवाची नगरी म्हटले जाते. भगवान शिवाच्या 12 ज्योतिर्लिंगांपैकी काशी विश्वनाथ मंदिर वाराणसीमध्ये गंगा नदीच्या काठावर आहे. श्रावणाच्या आगमनासह देश -विदेशातून लाखो भक्त भगवान शिवाच्या दर्शनासाठी येथे पोहोचतात. या मंदिराचे दर्शन मोक्षाचे मानले जाते. या मंदिराला भेट देणाऱ्यांमध्ये आदि शंकराचार्य, संत एकनाथ, रामकृष्ण परमहंस, स्वामी विवेकानंद, स्वामी दयानंद, गोस्वामी तुलसीदास यांसारखे महापुरुष होते.

मान्यता

काशी विश्वनाथला हिंदू धर्मात अत्यंत महत्त्व आहे. असे म्हटले जाते की काशी हे तिन्ही जगातील सर्वोत्तम शहर आहे, जे भगवान शंकराच्या त्रिशूळावर विराजमान आहे. असे मानले जाते की ज्योतिर्लिंगाची स्थापना केलेली जागा नाहीशी होत नाही तशीच राहते. असे म्हटले जाते की जो भक्त या शहरात येतो आणि भगवान शंकराची पूजा करतो त्याला सर्व पापांपासून मुक्ती मिळते.

इतिहास

या मंदिराला 3,500 वर्षांचा लिखित इतिहास आहे. हे मंदिर कधी बांधले गेले हे माहित नाही, परंतु त्याचा इतिहास दर्शवितो की यावर अनेक वेळा हल्ला झाला परंतु ते देखील तितक्या वेळा बांधले गेले. मंदिराचे सध्याचे स्वरूप इंदूरच्या महाराणी अहिल्याबाई होळकर यांनी 1780 मध्ये वारंवार हल्ले आणि पुनर्बांधणीनंतर बांधले होते.

पौराणिक कथा

काशी विश्वनाथ ज्योतिर्लिंग संदर्भात अनेक पौराणिक कथा प्रचलित आहेत. एका पौराणिक कथेनुसार, जेव्हा पार्वतीशी लग्न केल्यानंतर भगवान शंकर कैलास पर्वतावर राहू लागले, तेव्हा पार्वती यावर रागावली. त्याने आपल्या हृदयाची इच्छा भगवान शंकरासमोर ठेवली. आपल्या प्रियकराकडून हे ऐकून भगवान शिव यांनी कैलास पर्वत सोडला आणि देवी पार्वतीबरोबर काशी शहरात राहण्यास सुरुवात केली. अशाप्रकारे काशी शहरात आल्यानंतर येथे भगवान शिव यांची स्थापना ज्योतिर्लिंगच्या रूपाने झाली. तेव्हापासून विश्वनाथ ज्योतिर्लिंग काशी शहरात भगवान शिवाचे निवासस्थान बनले. असेही मानले जाते की काशी विश्वनाथ ज्योतिर्लिंग कोणत्याही मनुष्याच्या उपासनेने, तपश्चर्येने प्रकट झाले नाही, परंतु इथे निराकार देव शिव बनून विश्वनाथच्या रूपात प्रकट झाला.

प्राचीन मंदिर

काशी विश्वनाथ मंदिर हिंदू मंदिरांमध्ये सर्वात प्राचीन आहे. मंदिराच्या शिखरावर सुवर्ण लेप असल्यामुळे त्याला सुवर्ण मंदिर असेही म्हणतात. यावर, महाराजा रणजीत सिंह यांनी त्यांच्या कारकिर्दीत सोन्याचा लेप बनवला होता. मंदिराच्या आत गुळगुळीत काळ्या दगडाने बनवलेले शिवलिंग आहे. मंदिराला लागूनच ज्ञानवापी मशीद आहे. फाल्गुन शुक्ल एकादशीला (23 मार्च) येथे शृंगारोत्सवाचे आयोजन केले जाते.

काशी विश्वनाथची भव्य आरती

काशी विश्वनाथमध्ये केलेली आरती जगभरात प्रसिद्ध आहे. येथे दिवसातून पाच वेळा आरती होते. मंदिर दररोज सकाळी 2.30 वाजता उघडते. बाबा विश्वनाथ मंदिरात, पहाटेची मंगळा आरती दिवसातून चार वेळा केली जाते. मंदिर भक्तांसाठी पहाटे 4 ते सकाळी 11 पर्यंत खुले असते, त्यानंतर आरती झाल्यानंतर भाविक पुन्हा दुपारी 12 ते संध्याकाळी 7 पर्यंत मंदिरात पूजा करू शकतात. संध्याकाळी सात वाजता सप्तऋषी आरतीची वेळ आहे. त्यानंतर भाविक 9 वाजेपर्यंत मंदिरात येऊ शकतात. 9 वाजता भोग आरती सुरू होते, त्यानंतर मंदिरात भक्तांच्या प्रवेशावर बंदी आहे. रात्री 10.30 वाजता शयान आरतीचे आयोजन केले आहे. रात्री 11 वाजता मंदिर बंद असते.

कसे पोहचाल

उत्तर भारतात स्थापन झालेल्या श्री विश्वेश्वर (काशी विश्वनाथ) ज्योतिर्लिंगला भेट देण्यासाठी तुम्हाला प्रथम वाराणसी शहरात यावे लागेल. त्यासाठी वाहतुकीची उत्तम व्यवस्था करण्यात आली आहे. तुम्ही एकतर हवाई मार्गाने वाराणसीला पोहोचू शकता किंवा तुम्ही रेल्वे आणि रस्त्याने काशी या पवित्र शहरात जाऊ शकता.

वाराणसी शहरापासून 18 किमी अंतरावर असलेले लाल बहादूर शास्त्री विमानतळ हे जवळचे विमानतळ आहे. हे विमानतळ देशातील प्रमुख पर्यटन स्थळांशी थेट जोडलेले आहे. वाराणसीसाठी दिल्ली, आग्रा, मुंबई, चेन्नई, कलकत्ता, लखनौ आणि खजुराहो येथून थेट उड्डाणे आहेत.

काशी विश्वनाथ नगर हे रेल्वेच्या माध्यमातून देशातील सर्व मेट्रो आणि प्रमुख शहरांशी जोडलेले आहे. वाराणसी रेल्वे स्टेशन हे उत्तर भारतातील एक प्रमुख रेल्वे जंक्शन आहे. दिल्ली, कलकत्ता आणि पाटणा येथून अनेक गाड्या नियमितपणे धावतात. मुघलसराय रेल्वे स्टेशन वाराणसीपासून 18 किमी अंतरावर आहे ज्यामधून पश्चिमेकडून पूर्वेकडे जाणाऱ्या अनेक गाड्या जातात. तुम्हाला हवे असल्यास तुम्ही मुगलसराय येथे उतरून बस किंवा ऑटोने वाराणसीला पोहोचू शकता. वाराणसी हे पवित्र शहर दिल्लीपासून कलकत्ताकडे जाणाऱ्या राष्ट्रीय महामार्गाने (2) जोडलेले आहे. रस्त्याने वाराणसी शहर अलाहाबादपासून 128 किलोमीटर, बोधगयापासून 240 किलोमीटर आणि लखनऊपासून 286 किलोमीटर अंतरावर आहे.
