साधवी बनण्याअगोदर महिलेला हे सिद्ध करावे लागते की तिचा परिवार आणि समाजाबद्दल कुठल्याही प्रकारच मोह नाही आहे. तिला फक्त देवाची भक्ती करायची आहे. या गोष्टीचे समाधान झाल्यानंतर गुरू संन्यासाची दीक्षा देतात.

महिला जेव्हा नागा साधवी बनते त्या अगोदर तिचे आधी मुंडन केले जाते आणि तिला नदीत स्नान करवतात.

महिला नागा साधव्या संपूर्ण दिवस देवाचा जप करते. सकाळी ब्रह्म मुहूर्तावर तिला उठावे लागते. त्यानंतर नित्य कर्म केल्यानंतर महादेवाचा जप करते. दुपारी भोजन करते आणि नंतर परत महादेवाचा जप करते. सायंकाळी दत्तात्रेयाची पूजा करते आणि नंतर शयन.

सिंहस्थात नागा साधूंसोबत महिला साधव्या देखील शाही स्नान करते. आखाड्यात साधव्यांना भरपूर सन्मान दिला जातो.
