क्षमा मागण्यापेक्षा क्षमा करा (पर्युषण पर्व विशेष)
जैन धर्मात श्वेतांबर आणि दिगंबर हे दोन प्रमुख संप्रदाय आहेत. या दोन्हीही संप्रदायात पर्युषण पर्व मोठ्या उत्साहाने साजरे केले जाते. श्वेतांबर संप्रदायात भाद्रपद महिन्यात पर्युषण पर्व येते. त्यांचे हे पर्व आठ दिवस चालते. त्यानंतर दिगंबर संप्रदायाचे लोक हेच पर्व दहा दिवस साजरे करतात. त्याला ते 'दसलक्षण' या नावाने संबोधतात.
हा सण साजरा करण्याचा मुख्य उद्देश म्हणजे आत्म्याची शुद्धी करून योग्य उपक्रमांवर लक्ष केंद्रीत करणे हा आहे. पर्यावरणाप्रती आत्मा तटस्थ केल्याशिवाय शुद्धी होत नाही. यासाठी 'कल्पसूत्र' या तत्वार्थ सूत्राचे वाचन आणि विवेचन यामध्ये केले जाते. संत-मुनी आणि विद्वानांच्या सानिध्यात स्वाध्याय केला जातो. पूजा-अर्चना, आरती, त्याग, तपस्या आणि उपवास करून अधिकाधिक वेळ संताच्या सानिध्यात घालविला जातो. शिवाय आपल्या दैनंदिन कामकाजापासून दूर राहण्याचा प्रयत्न या दरम्यान केला जातो. संयम आणि विवेकाचा अभ्यास या पर्वात केला जातो.

या पर्वातील क्षमावाणीच्या कार्यक्रमामुळे जैन धर्माशिवाय इतर समाजातील लोकही त्यापासून प्रेरणा घेतात. विश्व-मैत्रीच्या दिवशी हा पर्व साजरा केला जातो. गणेश चतुर्थी किंवा ऋषीपंचमीच्या दिवशी संवत्सरी पर्व साजरे केले जाते. त्या दिवशी लोक उपवास करून स्वत: केलेल्या पापांला झिडकारून आणि भविष्यात त्यापासून दूर राहण्याची प्रतिज्ञा करतात. त्याचबरोबर सर्व सजीवांची क्षमा मागून आपले कुणाशीही वाईट नसल्याचे दर्शवितात. पर्यावरणात आम्ही कोणत्याही प्रकारचा हस्तक्षेप करणार नाहीत असा संकल्प ते करतात. कोणत्याही प्रकारची हिंसा करण्यासाठी ते स्वत: सहभागी होत नाहीत आणि दुसर्यालाही सहभाग घेण्यास सांगत नाहीत. यामुळेच त्यांचे कुणाशीही वाईट नसते. त्यांनी विश्वातील सर्व सजीवांना क्षमा केली असून त्या सजीवांना क्षमा मागणार्यांनी घाबरू नये असेही ते जाहीर करतात.
आपण क्षमा केल्यामुळे सर्व सजीवांना अभय देऊन त्यांच्या रक्षणाचा संकल्प केला पाहिजे. तेव्हा आपण संयम आणि विवेकाचे अनुसरण, आत्मिक शांतीचा अनुभव घेऊ शकता. सर्व सजीवांप्रती मैत्रीची भावना ठेवू शकता. आपण बाहेर कुठेही हस्तक्षेप न केला आणि बाहेरील तत्वापासून विचलित न झाल्यास आत्मा शुद्ध होऊ शकतो. क्षमा-भाव हा याचा मूलमंत्र आहे.

आपण क्षमा केल्यामुळे सर्व सजीवांना अभय देऊन त्यांच्या रक्षणाचा संकल्प केला पाहिजे. तेव्हा आपण संयम आणि विवेकाचे अनुसरण, आत्मिक शांतीचा अनुभव घेऊ शकता. सर्व सजीवांप्रती मैत्रीची भावना ठेवू शकता. आपण बाहेर कुठेही हस्तक्षेप न केला आणि बाहेरील तत्वापासून विचलित न झाल्यास आत्मा शुद्ध होऊ शकतो. क्षमा-भाव हा याचा मूलमंत्र आहे.
