डिझायनिंग पलिकडचे फॅशन करिअर

"फॅशन डिझायनिंग"किंवा "फॅशन" याची सर्वसामान्य व्याख्या म्हणजे आकर्षक ड्रेस डिझायनिंग आणि त्या डिझाईन्सचे प्रदर्शन करणारे मॉडेल्स. आजची तरुणाई हे फॅशन डिझाईनकडे वळताना दिसत आहे. आपली क्रिएटिव्हिटी आपण आपल्या डिझाईन्समध्ये दाखवावे असा प्रत्येक विद्यार्थ्याचा अट्टाहास आहे. त्यासाठी विद्यार्थी त्याप्रमाणे फॅशन इन्स्टिटयूटची निवड करतात. पण फॅशन डिझायनिंग हे फक्त कपडे डिझाईन्सपुरते मर्यादित न राहता त्याही पलिकडे जाऊन आपल्या क्रिएटिव्हिटीच्या जोरावर नवनवीन संकल्पना मांडू शकतो. शिक्षण क्षेत्रात सध्या आघाडीवर असलेल्या आयटीएम इन्स्टिटयूट ऑफ फॅशन डिझायनिंग आणि मीडियाचे विभाग प्रमुख मुकुंद राय यांनी फॅशन डिझाईनपलिकडे जात याच्या शिक्षणाबद्दल काही महत्वाच्या बाबी सांगितल्या आहेत.

फॅशन डिझाईन्स मध्ये करियर करायचे असेल तर त्या शैक्षणिक वर्षात फक्त परीक्षा, असाईनमेंट, सबमिशन आणि डिग्री संपल्यावर ग्लॅमर जगात आपण एन्ट्री मारू असा समज फॅशन डिझाईन करू इच्छिणाऱ्या विद्यार्थ्यांचा आहे. पण खरे पाहायला जाल तर अथक परिश्रम, ताण-तणाव, आणि स्पर्धापूर्ण वातावरणाने भरलेलं म्हणजे फॅशन डिझाईनिंगचे शैक्षणिक वर्ष असते. वीस वर्षांपूर्वी "फॅशन डिझायनिंग" म्हणजे शानदार आणि महागड्या कपड्यांवर डिझाईन्स करणे पण गेल्या दोन दशकात या संकल्पनेत बदल झालेला दिसत आहे. फॅशन डिझाईन्सचा शब्दशः अर्थ न घेता यातून वेगवेगळ्या क्षेत्रात आपण वळू शकतो जसे की, कॉस्ट्यूम स्टायलिस्ट किंवा डिझायनर, फॅशन बायर, व्हिज्युअल मर्चन्डायजर, फॅशन कन्सल्टंट किंवा उद्योजक अशा प्रकारची दालने आपल्यासाठी खुली आहेत.
