काही दिवसांपूर्वी म्हणजे 14 फेब्रुवारी रोजी नागपुरात नागपूरचे राजघराणे असलेल्या नागपूरकर भोसले परिवाराच्या वतीने दरवर्षी प्रदान करण्यात येणार्या राजरत्न पुरस्कारांचा वितरण सोहळा पार पडला. या सोहळ्यात सांस्कृतिक क्षेत्रातील उल्लेखनिय कार्य करण्यासाठी देण्यात येणारा राजरत्न पुरस्कार नागपूरच्या संगीताच्या प्राध्यापिका डॉ. तनुजा नाफडे यांना समारंभपूर्वक प्रदान करण्यात आला. देशातील नारी शक्तीचा आणि मराठी भाषिकांचा सन्मान करणारा आणि मराठी भाषिकांना अभिमान वाटणारा हा क्षण होता.
अटकेपार आपल्या कर्तृत्वाचे झेंडे लावणे या कामात एकूणच मराठी माणूस आघाडीवर असतो असे म्हटल्यास वावगे होणार नाही. लता मंगेशकर, सुनील गावस्कर, जयंत नारळीकर, सचिन तेंडुलकर, बाबासाहेब पुरंदरे, कवी कुसुमाग्रज, शंतनुराव किर्लोस्कर अशी कितीतरी मराठी नावे सांगता येतील ज्यांनी आपल्या कर्तृत्त्वाची किर्ती दूरवर पोहोचवली आहे.
मराठी माणूस आपले कर्तृत्व दाखवतो ते कधी समाजासाठी तर कधी देशासाठी. स्वतःसाठी त्याचे काहीच नसते. जे काही असते ते समाजापर्यंत असते. अशाच स्वतःसाठी नाही तर देशासाठी काहीतरी करता यावे म्हणून धडपड करून त्यात यशस्वी होणार्यान या व्यक्तीमत्वाची ओळख म्हणजे भारतीय लष्करासाठी स्वातंत्र्यानंतर प्रथमच आपली भारतीय मार्शल ट्यून संगीतबद्ध करणार्यास नागपुरच्या संगीतकार डॉ. तनुजा नाफडे, त्यांच्या कर्तृत्वासाठीच त्यांना राजरत्न पुरस्काराने गौरविणत आले.
डॉ. तनूजा नाफडे या सध्या नागपूरच्या असल तरी त्या नागपूरच्या स्नुषा आहेत. त्यांचे माहेर हे इंदोरचे. इंदोरच्या राजेंद्रनगर कॉलनी परिसरात राहणार्या स्व. प्रभाकरराव आणि विमल कापडनीसांची धाकटी कन्या असलेल्या डॉ. तनूजा नाफडे यांनी देशासाठी हे महान कार्य केले. त्याचा प्रत्येक भारतीयाला, प्रत्येक मराठी माणसाला जसा अभिमान आहे तसाच इंदोरची कन्या असलेल्या तनूजा नाफडे यांनी हे शिवधनुष्य पेलले त्याचा समस्त इंदोरकरांनाही सार्थ अभिमान असणारच.
भारताला स्वातंत्र्य मिळून आज 72 वर्ष झाली आहेत. मात्र भारतीय लष्कर, पोलीस निम लष्करी दले या सर्वांचाच असलेला बँड हा आजही भारतीय नाही तर पाश्चात्यच आहे. या बँडच्या वादकांना जे शिक्षण देण्यात आले तेही पाश्चात्य पद्धतीनेच. त्यामुळे स्वातंत्र्यानंतर 72 वर्ष झाली तरी सैन्यदल, पोलीस यांच्या बँडवर वाजवल्या जाणार्या सर्व धून या आजही पाश्चात्यच आहेत.

या परंपरांना छेद दिला गेला 7 ऑक्टोबर 2018 रोजी. याच दिवशी नवी दिल्लीत जनरल माणेकशा सेंटर सभागृहात एका शानदार समारोहात भारताचे स्थल सेनाध्यक्ष जनरल बिपीन रावत यांचे हस्ते भारतीय लष्कराच्या शंखनाद या डॉ. तनुजा नाफडे यांनी संगीतबद्ध केलेल्या नव्या मार्शल ट्यूनचे लोकार्पण करण्यात आले.
डॉ. तनुजा नाफडे या नागपूरच्या धरमपेठ महाविद्यालयात पदव्युत्तर संगीत विभागाच्या प्राध्यापिका आणि विभागप्रमुख म्हणून कार्यरत आहेत. मध्य प्रदेशातील इंदोर येथे डॉ. तनूजा नाफडे यांचा जन्म झाला. त्यांचे वडील प्रभाकरराव कापडनीस हे रेल्वेत नोकरीला होते. तीन मुलांनंतर झालेली ही चौथी मुलगी असल्यामुळे तनूजा ही सर्वांचीच लाडकी होती. प्रभाकरराव कापडनीसांना संगीत ऐकण्याचा नाद होता. त्याकाळात इंदोरमध्ये होणार्याप खासगी आणि सार्वजनिक मफिलींमध्ये ते आवर्जुन हजेरी लावायचे.
लहानपणीच तनूजाचा गोड गळा त्यांच्या लक्षात आला होता. त्यामुळे आपल्यासोबत अशा मैफिलींना ते लहानग तनूजालाही सोबत घेऊन जायचे. विशेषतः ग्वाल्हेर घराण्याचे अभ्यासक वामनराव राजूरकर यांच्याकडे होणार्या मैफिलींमध्ये प्रभाकररावांबरोबर तनूजा हमखास जायची. यामुळे लहानवयातच संगीताचे अप्रत्क्ष संस्कार तनूजावर होऊ लागले होते.
शाळेत म्हणजेच अहिल्याश्रम विद्यालयात शिकतांना तनूजाची संगीतसाधना सुरु झाली. त्यावेळी इंदोरमध्ये असलेल्या उर्ध्वरेषे संगीत क्लासमध्ये तनूजा सुगसंगीत शिकायला जायची. तिथूनच गांधर्व संगीत महाविद्यालयाचे पहिली परीक्षाही तनूजाने पास केली. अहिल्याश्रमातून मॅट्रिक पास केल्यावर इंदोरच्या न्यू गर्ल्स डिग्री कॉलेजमध्ये तनूजाने बी.ए. साठी प्रवेश घेतला. तिच्या या निर्णयाला तिच्या तीघाही मोठ्या भावांचा ठाम विरोध होता. तनूजाने विज्ञान शाखेत प्रवेश घेऊन डॉक्टर किंवा इंजिनिअर व्हावे अशी त्यांची इच्छा होती. बी.ए. केल्यावर लग्नाच्या वेळी चांगला मुलगाही मिळणार नाही अशी भीती तिला घातली गेली. मात्र तनूजाला फाईन आर्टस् आणि त्यातही संगीत या विषयात रस असल्याने ती आपल्या निर्णयावर ठाम राहिली. यावेळी तिच्या पाठीशी तिचे वडील प्रभाकरराव हे देखील खंबीरपणे उभे राहिले. त्यातूनच आज देशाला नवी मार्शल ट्यून देणारी संगीतकार घडली.
महाविद्यालयीन जीवनात वामनराव राजूरकर, अशोक राजूरकर, उषा चांदोरकर, निलीमा चाफेकर, डॉ. शशीकांत तांबे, रंजनी रेगे, सुमन दांडेकर या इंदोरमधील संगीत अभ्यासकांच्यामार्गदर्शनात तनूजाचा सांगितिक प्रवास सुरु झाला. बी.ए. नंतर ओल्ड गर्ल्स डिग्री कॉलेजमध्येच तनूजाने संगीतात एम.ए. ही केले. या काळात विविध
स्पर्धांधूनही तनूजा पुढे आली. अशाच एका स्पर्धेत जितेंद्रबूवा अभिषेकी यांच्या हस्ते तनूजाचा सत्कारही झाला होता. एम.ए. ची परीक्षा होताच तिने मुंबईत जाऊन प्रभा अत्रे यांच्याकडे संगीताचा अभ्यास करण्याचा निर्णय घेतला. तिचा मोठा भाऊ विनय हा त्यावेळी मुंबईतच होता. त्यामुळे भावाकडे राहून प्रभाताईंकडे संगीत साधना सुरु झाली.
प्रभाताईंच्या सुचनेवरून तनूजाने मुंबईच्या एस.एन.डी.टी. कॉलेजमध्ये जाऊन संगीतात एम.फील.चा अभ्यास सुरु केला. याच दरम्यान नागपूरच्या रवी नाफडे या अभियंत्याशी 1987 मध्ये विवाहबद्ध होत तनूजा कापडनीसची तनूजा नाफडे झाली. त्यावेळी रवी नाफडे मुंबईला गोदरेजमध्ये नोकरीला होते. 1990 मध्ये एमफिल पूर्ण झाले. त्याच दरम्यान नाफडे पती पत्नींना नागपुरात स्थानांतरित व्हावे लागले. नागपुरात येऊन रवी नाफडेंनी आपला व्यवसाय सुरू केला तर तनुजा नाफडेंनी आपल्या संगीत साधने सोबत भारतीय रागमाला चित्रकलेचा सांगितीक दृष्टीकोण या विषयावर पीएचडीसाठी संशोधन सुरू केले. याच काळात डॉ. प्रभा अत्रेंसोबत शोभा गुर्टु, पं. संगमेश्वर गुरव, पं. कैवल्कुमार गुरव, पं. मधुसुदन ताम्हणकर, पं. रमेश राजहंस यांच्याकडे किराणा घराणे, ठुमरी, अशा संगिताच्या विविध अंगांचे शिक्षण घेतले. पी.एचडी. च्या संशोधनात मार्गदर्शक होते नागपूरचे डॉ. नारायण मंगरुळकर, याचबरोबर रागाला पेटिंग्जचा अभ्यास असल्यामुळे कलामहर्षी डॉ. बाबूराव सडवेलकर यांचेही त्यांना मार्गदर्शन लाभले.
त्यांचा पी.एचडी. चा प्रबंध हा पुस्तकरुपात प्रसिद्ध व्हावा अशी सूचना त्यावेळी परीक्षकांनी आवर्जुन केली होती हे विशेष.पी.एच.डी. पुर्ण झाली आणि लगेचच 1996 मध्ये नागपुरच्या धरमपेठ महाविद्यालयात त्या संगीत विभागप्रमुख म्हणून रुजू झाल्या. वर्षभरातच त्ंयांनी या महाविद्यालयात त्यांनी संगीताचा पद्व्युत्तर विभागही सुरू केला. याशिवाय त्यांची नियमित साधना सुरू होतीच. गेल्या 25 वर्षात त्यांनी विविध मैफिली गाजवल्या. विविध सन्मान देखिल मिळवले. पं. हरीहरन यांच्यासोबत त्यांनी रंग दे या कार्यक्रमात केलेल्या सहभागाचा अल्बमही प्रकाशित झाला. आकाशवाणी आणि दूरदर्शनवरही त्यांनी अनेक कार्यक्रम गाजवले. 2014 मध्ये रशियातील मास्को येथे भारतीय दूतावासात विशेष कार्यक्रम देखील त्यांनी सादर केला.
2016 मध्ये भारतीय लष्कराच्या महार रेजीमेंटचा अमृत महोत्सव साजरा होणार होता. महार रेजीमेटला या निमित्ताने एखादे गीत मिळावे असा विचार झाला. त्यावेळी रेजीमेंटचे मेजर जनरल असलेले मनोज ओक यांनी रेजीमेंटचे ब्रिगेडीअर विवेक सोहेल यांच्याकडून एक गीत लिहून घेतले. हे गीत संगीतबद्ध करण्यासाठी मेजर जनरल ओकांनी आपल्या कौटुंबिक स्नेही असलेल्या डॉ. तनुजा नाफडे यांना विचारले. त्यांनी लगेच होकार दिला आणि कामाला सुरुवात केली.

डॉ. तनुजा नाफडेंनी हे गीत संगीतबद्ध तर केले खरे, पण त्यांनी दिलेले संगीत हे भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीताच्या चौकटीतले होते. हे गीत लष्कराच्या गायकांकडून गाऊन घ्यायचे आणि साथीला लष्कराची पाश्चात्य वाद्ये घ्यायची हे खरे अग्रीदिव्य होते. मग त्यासाठी मध्प्रदेशातल्या सागर या लष्करी तळावर जाऊन या गायक वादकांना शिकविणे सुरू झाले. जवळजवळ वर्षभराच्या अथक परिश्रमानंतर हे गीत व्यवस्थित बसवले गेले. 6 नोव्हेंबर 2016 रोजी सागर येथे झालेल महार रेजीमेंटच्या अमृत महोत्सवानिमित्त आयोजित एका शानदार समारंभात सात हजार लष्करी जवान आणि अधिकारी वृंदासमोर गायीले गेले. लष्कराच्या कार्यक्रमात गैरलष्करी व्यक्तीने संगीतबद्ध केलेले लष्कराचे गीत गायीले जाणे हा इतिहास डॉ. तनुजा यांनी घडवला.
या समारंभात लष्कराचे अनेक वरिष्ठ अधिकारी उपस्थित होते. तत्कालिन लष्कर प्रमुखांना हे गीत अतिशय आवडले. त्यांनी या गीताची धून लष्कराची मार्शल ट्यून म्हणून घ्यावी असा विचार मांडला आणि तसा प्रस्ताव पाठवण्याचे निर्देश दिले.
हा प्रस्ताव पुढे येताच या गीताची धून लष्कराच्या बँडपथकाला शिकवणे हे एक नवी जबाबदारी डॉ. तनुजा नाफडेंवर आली. इथे लष्कराचा बँड हा पाश्चात्य सुरावटीची पाठराखण करणारा आणि डॉ. नाफडेंचे संगीत हे भारतीय सुरावटीचे होते. त्यामुळे वेस्टर्न हार्मनी आणि इंडियन मेलोडी यांचा सुरेल संगम घडवून आणणे हे आव्हान त्यांच्यासमोर उभे ठाकले. मात्र पावणेदोन वर्षांच्या सततच्या पाठपुरावनंतर ही धून सर्वमान्य ठरली. या दरम्यान महार रेजीमेंटचे मेजर जनरल ओक निवृत्त झाले होते.
त्यांच्या नंतर आलेू्वर मेजर जनरल सुधाकर यांनी देखील या प्रस्तावाचा पाठपुराव केला. लष्कराच्या विविध चाळण्यांमधून तावून सुलाखून ही धून अखेर मंजूर झाली. मुंबईच्या यशराज स्टुडीओत या ट्युनचे ध्वनी मुद्रण झाले आणि सी.डी. लोकार्पणासाठी तयार झाली. विशेषम्हणजे डॉ. तनूजा नाफडे यांनी हे सर्व काम करण्यासाठी आपल्या विनामूल्य सेवा भारतीय लष्कराला देऊ केल्या. भारत सरकारकडून त्यांनी एक रुपयाही मानधनासाठी घेतला नाही. देशासाठी काम करण्याची ही संधी म्हणूनच त्यांनी हे कार्य पार पाडले.
लष्कराची मार्शल ट्यून ही सैन्याला प्रेरणा देणारी आणि जोष आणणारी असावी लागते. भारतीय संगीताचा वापर करून डॉ. नाफडेंनी हे शिवधनुष्य पेलले. पौराणिक काळात युद्घाच्या प्रारंभी चैतन्य निर्माण करायला शंखनाद केला जात असे. भारतीय संगीताचा उपोग करून संगीतबद्ध केलेल्या या मार्शल ट्यूनला त्यामुळे शंखनाद असे नाव देण्याचा निर्णय लष्करी अधिकार्यांशनी घेतला.
7 ऑक्टोबर रोजी सकाळी दिल्लीच्या माणेकशा सेंटर सभागृहात एका समारंभात या ट्यूनचे लोकार्पण करण्यात आले. यावेळी लष्करप्रमुखांनी ताम्रपत्र देऊन डॉ. तनुजा नाफडे यांचा गौरव केला. यावेळी देशासाठी हा खारीचा वाटा उचलण्याची संधी दिल्याबद्दल भारतीय लष्कराचे ऋण मान्य करीत डॉ. तनुजा नाफडे यांनी शंखनाद निर्मितीचा प्रकल्प कथन केला. यावेळी डॉ. नाफडे यांचा कंठ दाटून आला होता. टाळ्यांच्या कडकडाटात सभागृहाने त्यांच्या या प्रयत्नांना दाद दिली.हा सिलसिला इथेच थांबला नाही. 15 जानेवारी 2019 रोजी भारतीय लष्कराचा लष्करदिन नवी दिल्लीत साजरा झाला. त्या दिवशी भारतीय लष्कराच्या सर्व बँड पथकांनी सामूहिकरित्या ही नवी मार्शल ट्यून वाजवून वातावरणात जोश भरला. या कार्यक्रमासाठीही डॉ. नाफडे यांना लष्कराने निमंत्रित केले होते. या निमित्ताने भारताचे महामहिम राष्ट्रपती रामनाथ कोविंद यांच्या पर्यंत ही नव्या लष्करी मार्शल ट्यूनची बामती गेली. त्या समारंभात महामहिम राष्ट्रपतींनी डॉ. नाफडे यांची भेट घेऊन त्यांचे व्यकितश: कौतूक केले.

26 जानेवारी हा देशाचा गणतंत्र दिवस असतो. त्या दिवशी दिल्लीत गणतंत्रदिनाचा विशेष सोहळा आणि त्यानिमित्ताने विशेष पथसंचलन आयोजित केले जाते. 26 जानेवारी 2019 च्या या विशेष पथसंचलनात डॉ. तनुजा नाफडे यांनी संगीतबद्ध केलेली नवी मार्शल ट्यून वाजविली गेली. त्यावेळी सुरु असलेल्या सालोचनातही याबाबत जाहीर करण्यात आले. या वृत्ताची दखल देशभरातील माध्यमांनी घेतली आणि एका दिवसातच डॉ. नाफडे या राष्ट्रीय व्यक्तिमत्व बनल्या. या वृत्ताची दखल त्याच दिवशी रात्री देशातील महिलांचे सर्वात मोठे संघटन असलेल्या राष्ट्रसेविका समितीच्या प्रमुख शांताक्काजी यांनी घेतली. त्यांनी डॉ. नाफडे यांचा नंबर मिळवित रात्रीच डॉ. नाफडे यांच्याशी फोनवर संपर्क साधला आणि त्यांचे अभिनंदन केले.
डॉ. तनुजा नाफडे यांच्या या कर्तृत्वाची दखल फक्त शांताक्कांनीच घेतली असे नाही तर राष्ट्रीय स्वंसेवक संघाचे सरसंघचालक डॉ. मोहन भागवत यांनीही त्यांना भेटीला बोलावून त्यांचे अभिनंदन केले. मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस, केंद्रीय मंत्री नितीन गडकरी, प्रकाश जावडेकर, तत्कालीन संरक्षण राज्यमंत्री डॉ. सुभाष भामरे यांच्यासह अनेक मान्यवरांनी त्यांचे कौतुक केले. डॉ. तनूजा नाफडे यांच्या या कर्तृत्वाची दखल विविध स्तरावर घेतली न जाती तरच नवल. भारतीय लष्करातर्फे त्यांना विशेष ताम्रपत्र देऊन गौरवविण्यात आले. महार रेजिमेंटच्या हरिक महोत्सवानिमित्त झालेल्या समारोहात तत्कालिन मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांनी त्यांचा सत्कार केला. याशिवाय न्यूज-18 लोकमत या वृत्तवाहिनीने ही एका खास समारंभत केंद्रीय मंत्री नितीन गडकरी यांच्या हस्ते पुरस्कार देऊन त्यांचा गौरव केला. नागपूर महापालिकेनेही इनोव्हेशन अवॉर्ड देऊन त्यांच्या कर्तृत्वाची दखल घेतली. या शिवाय महाराष्ट्र राज्य महिला आयोग, मुंबई मंत्रालय वार्ताहर संघ, महाराष्ट्र परिचय केंद्र नवी दिल्ली अशा विविध संस्थांनी त्यांना गौरवित केले आहे. भारत विकास परिषद पश्चिम नागपूर शाखेने डॉ. नाफडे यांचा प्रकट सत्कार राष्ट्रसेविका समितीच्या प्रमुख संचालिका शांताक्का यांच्या हस्ते केला. त्यावेळी डॉ. नाफडे यांची प्रकट मुलाखतही घेण्यात आली.
डॉ. नाफडे यांच्या या कामगिरीची दखल घेत तत्कालिन लष्कर प्रमुख जनरल विपीन रावत यांच्या पत्नी यांनी लष्करी अधिकार्यांदच्या पत्नीची संघटना असलेल्या राष्ट्रव्यापी संघटनेचे संघटना गीत संगीतबद्ध करण्याचेही काम दिले. त्यांनतर प्रादेशिक सेनेनेही त्यांना आपले सेनागीत संगीतबद्ध करण्याची जबाबदारी दिली. या दोनही गीतांचे काम पूर्ण झाले असून महिला संघटनेच्या गीताचे लोकार्पणही पार पडले आहे.

भारतीय लष्करासाठी मार्शल ट्यून संगीतबद्ध करण्याची मला मिळालेली ही संधी ही एक ईश्वरी योजनाच असावी असा डॉ. तनुजा नाफडे यांचा विश्वास आहे. संगीत साधना करून नाव, पैसा आणि सन्मान मिळवणे हे प्रत्येक संगीत साधकाचे ध्येय असतेच. मात्र त्याही पुढे जाऊन आपल्या मातृभूमीसाठी काहीतरी चांगले काम आपल्या हातून घडावे ही खरोखरी आत्मीक समाधान देणारी बाब असल्याचेही त्या सांगतात. मातृभूमीचे रक्षण करण्यासाठी जीवाची बाजी लावणारे जवान असल्याने आपण सुरक्षित आहोत.
त्यामुळे या जवानांना चैतन्य देणारी रचना संगीतबद्ध करण्याची संधी मला मिळावी ही मी माझी पूर्वपुण्याई समजते असेही मत डॉ. नाफडे व्यक्त करतात. आज देशासाठी प्रत्येक जण काही ना काही करतोच ना. लष्कर देशाचे रक्षण करते. प्रशासन रात्रंदिवस काम करून देशाची व्यवस्था सांभाळते. कामगार कारखान्यात उत्पादन
करून देश मजबुत करतात. याच परंपरेत आपल्या संगीत साधनेतून देशाला लष्करासाठी मार्शल ट्यून देणारी ही संगीतसाधक कलावती मराठी महिला इंदोरची लेक आहे आणि नागपूरची सून आहे. ही बाब नागपूरकर आणि इंदोरकरांनाही अभिमानास्पद आहे.
