पुण्यात ढगफुटीसारखा पाऊस पडण्याचं नेमकं कारण काय?

गेले दोन दिवस पुण्यामध्ये संततधार पाऊस सुरु आहे. पावसामुळे अकरा जणांचे प्राण गेले आहेत. पण पुण्यात एवढा विध्वंसक पाऊस पडण्याची कारणं तरी काय आहेत?

कालपासून गुजरातच्या दक्षिणेस मुंबईजवळ आणि कोकण किनारपट्टीच्याजवळ कमी दाबाचे क्षेत्र तयार झाले होते. यामुळे मुंबई, कोकण आणि पुण्याच्या आजूबाजूच्या प्रदेशामध्ये मध्यम ते मुसळधार पाऊस पडला. सप्टेंबर महिन्याचा अखेरचा काळ हा मान्सून परतण्याचा काळ असतो. मान्सून परतण्याच्या काळामध्ये विजा चमकण्यासह पाऊस पडतो. तसेच पुण्यामध्ये गेल्या 24 तासांमध्ये उंच ढगांची दाटी झाल्याचं भारतीय हवामान विभागाने दिलेल्या माहितीतून दिसून येतं. या कारणांमुळेच पुणे शहर आणि पुणे जिल्ह्यामध्ये अनेक ठिकाणी ढगफुटीसारखी अतिवृष्टी झाल्याचं दिसून येतं.

गेल्या दोन दिवसांमध्ये पुण्यामध्ये झालेल्या पावसाबद्दल भारतीय हवामान विभागाचे माजी संचालक डॉ. रंजन केळकर यांनी बीबीसी मराठीशी बोलताना हा मान्सून परतण्याच्या प्रक्रियेचा भाग असल्याचं सांगितलं. ते म्हणाले, "अशा प्रकाराचा वीजेच्या कडकडाटासह होणारा पाऊस हा मान्सून परतण्याच्या प्रक्रियेचाच एक भाग आहे. आता काही दिवसांमध्ये मान्सून माघारी जाईल याचेच ते चिन्ह आहे."

हवामान अभ्यासक मयुरेश प्रभुणे यांनी गेल्या दोन दिवसांमध्ये पुण्यावर अत्यंत उंच ढग दाटल्याचे बीबीसी मराठीशी बोलताना सांगितले. प्रभुणे म्हणाले, "पुणे आणि पुण्याच्या परिसरामध्ये 12 ते 15 किमी उंचीचे ढग तयार झाले होते. एकावेळेस तर या ढगांची उंची 18 किमीपर्यंत गेल्याचं दिसून येतं. यामुळे पुणे शहरात ढगफुटीसदृष्य स्थिती निर्माण झाली."

पावसानं घेतला सात जणांचा प्राण

गुरुवारी पहाटे शहरातील अरण्येश्वर परिसरात भिंत कोसळल्यामुळे सात जणांचा मृत्यू झाला. प्रचंड पावसामुळे पुण्यातल्या आंबील ओढ्याला आलेल्या पुरामुळे अरण्येश्वर येथील टांगेवाले कॉलनीत पाणी वाढले. हे पाणी कॉलनीतल्या घरांमध्ये घुसले. त्यामुळे भिंत खचून 11 जणांचा मृत्यू झाला.

एका बाजूला ओढा आणि दुसऱ्या बाजूने चढावर असलेल्या सोसायट्या अशी परिस्थिती या परिसरात आहे. त्यामुळे अनेकांना बाहेर पडणं अशक्य झाल्याचं प्रत्यक्षदर्शींनी सांगितलं आहे. केवळ एकाच गल्लीतून बाहेर पडायला रस्ता असल्याने बचावकार्यातही अडथळे होते. पानशेत पूरग्रस्तांना या ठिकाणी विस्थापित करण्यात आलं होतं. 1995 साली या वसाहतीतील अर्ध्या लोकांना इमारतीमध्ये घरं मिळाली होती. तर घरं न मिळालेली 50 ते 70 कुटुंबं ओढ्याकिनारी राहात आहेत.

सापडलेल्या पाच मृतदेहांपैकी तीन मृतदेह ससून रुग्णालयात शवविच्छेदनासाठी पाठविण्यात आले असून अन्य दोन मृतदेह काढण्याचे काम एनडीआरएफची तीन पथकं करत होती.

अतिवृष्टीच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर जिल्ह्यात कोणत्याही प्रकारची अनुचित घटना घडू नये तसेच अतिवृष्टीमुळे निर्माण झालेल्या आपत्त्कालीन परिस्थितीचा परिणाम शालेय विद्यार्थ्यांवर होऊ नये याकरिता पुणे जिल्ह्यातील पुणे शहर, हवेली, पुरंदर, भोर आणि बारामती या तालुक्यातील सर्व प्राथमिक, माध्यमिक, उच्च माध्यमिक शाळा व महाविद्यालये यांना आज (26 सप्टेंबर, 2019) सुट्टी घोषित करण्यात आली आहे. पुण्याचे जिल्हाधिकारी नवलकिशोर राम यांनी ही माहिती दिली आहे.

पुणे ग्रामीण पोलिसांनी दिलेल्या माहितीनुसार खेड शिवापूर येथेही 5 लोक वाहून गेले आहेत. मुसळधार पावसामुळे नाल्यातील पाण्याची पातळी वाढल्यामुळे ही घटना घडल्याची माहिती एएनआय वृत्तसंस्थेने दिली आहे.

सासवड येथे झालेल्या पावसामुळे नाझरे धरणातून 85,000 क्युसेक्स पाण्याचा विसर्ग करण्यात आला आहे. त्यामुळे बारामती शहरामध्ये पूर येण्याची शक्यता जिल्हा प्रशासनाने व्यक्त केली आहे.
