तैवानच्या संसदेने समलैंगिक विवाहांना मान्यता दिली आहे. शुक्रवारी झालेल्या मतदानानंतर असं करणारा तैवान आशियातला पहिला देश बनला आहे.
सन 2017 मध्य तैवानच्या घटनात्मक कोर्टाने म्हटलं होतं की, समलैंगिक जोडप्यांना कायद्याने लग्न करण्याचा अधिकार आहे.
यासंबंधी कायदा करण्यासाठी कोर्टाने संसदेला 2 वर्षांच्या अवधी दिला होता ज्याची मुदत 24 मेला संपणार होती.
समलैंगिक जोडप्यांना कायद्याने लग्न करण्याचा अधिकार देणारी अनेक विधेयकं संसदेत सादर झाली होती, त्यातलं सगळ्यांत उदारमतवादी विधेयक, जे सरकारने सादर केलं होतं, ते पास झालं.
या ऐतिहासिक निर्णयाची घोषणा होण्याची वाट बघत अनेक समलैंगिक व्यक्ती, त्यांचे पाठीराखे, मानवी हक्क कार्यकर्ते राजधानी तैपईमध्ये गोळा झाले होते.
काय आहे या विधेयकात?
इतर विधेयकांमध्ये, जे पारंपारिक विचारसरणी असलेल्या लोकप्रतिनिधींनी मांडले होते, अशा संबंधांना समलैंगिक नाती, किंवा समलैंगिक पार्टनरशिप असं म्हटलं होतं. त्यांना लग्नाचा दर्जा नव्हता.
पण सरकारने सादर केलेल्या सगळ्यात उदारमतवादी विधेयकात मात्र या संबंधांना लग्नाचा दर्जा दिलाय तसंच काही अटी-शर्तींसह मुल दत्तक घेण्याचीही परवानगी आहे.
तैवानच्या राष्ट्राध्यक्ष त्सांई इंग-वेन यांनी या विधेयकाचं कायद्यात रूपांतर केल्यानंतर याची अंमलबजावणी होईल.
अनेक समलैंगिक कार्यकर्त्यांचं म्हणणं होतं की सरकारचंच विधेयक स्वीकारण्यायोग्य होतं."
"सरकारचं विधेयक म्हणजे आमची अंतिम रेष आहे. यापेक्षा जास्त तडजोडी आम्ही करू शकत नाही," मॅरेज इक्वॅलिटी कोलिशन या संस्थेच्या मुख्य समन्वयक जेनिफर लू यांनी रॉयटर्सला सांगितलं.
"याऐवजी जर दुसरं विधेयक पास झालं असतं तर आम्ही त्याला कोर्टात आव्हान दिलं असतं."
शुक्रवारी त्सांई इंग-वेन यांनी ट्वीट केलं होतं की. "आज आपल्याकडे इतिहास घडवायची संधी आहे. आपण हे जगाला दाखवून देऊ शकतो की उदारमतवादी मूल्यं पूर्व आशियायी देशातही रुजू शकतात.

तैवानमध्ये कसे मिळाले समलैंगिकांना आपले हक्क?
2017 मध्ये तैवानच्या घटनात्मक कोर्टाने निकाल दिला की समलैंगिक जोडप्यांना कायद्याने लग्न करण्याचा अधिकार आहे.
पण या निर्णयानंतर तैवानामध्ये असंतोषाची लाट उठली. लोकांना समलैंगिक लग्नांना परवानगी देणं मान्य नव्हतं. त्यामुळे सरकारने दबावाखाली येऊन अनेक सार्वमतं घेतली.
या सार्वमतांवरून लक्षात आलं की तैवानची जनता समलैंगिक लग्नांच्या विरोधात होती. बहुतांश लोकांचं म्हणणं होतं की लग्न फक्त एक स्त्री आणि एक पुरुष यांच्यातच होऊ शकतं.
परिणामी, तैवान सरकारने सांगितलं की ते सध्याच्या कायद्यात असणारी लग्नाची व्याख्या बदलणार नाहीत तर एक वेगळा कायदा आणतील ज्यायोगे समलैंगिकांना लग्न करता येईल.
