सिझन १ चे कुतूहलजनक कथानक म्हणजे कुमार महाजनने सुदर्शन चक्रपाणीचा शोध घेतला, जो आधीच कुमारचे जीवन जगला होता आणि येणाऱ्याकाळात काय घडणार आहे, हे तो सांगू शकत होता. सिझन २ मध्ये चक्रपाणीने कुमारला डायरी दिली आहे, ज्यात त्यांच्या आयुष्याचा तपशील आहे.यात एक नवीन स्त्री कुमारच्या आयुष्यात येणार असल्याचे भाकीत आहे. त्यानंतर कुमारचा नशिबाचा शोध सुरु होतो. या डायरीचा अंदाजरोखण्यासाठी कुमारचा सर्वतोपरी प्रयत्न सुरु असतानाही या गूढ स्त्रीचा कुमारच्या आयुष्यात प्रवेश होतो. ही गूढ स्त्री कोण आहे आणि चक्रपाणीनेआपल्या डायरीत नमूद केल्याप्रमाणे कुमारला नाशिबाचा सामना करावा लागणार का, याचा शोध १० भागांच्या थ्रिलरमध्ये आहे.
सिझन २ बद्दल स्वप्नील जोशी म्हणतो, ''प्रेक्षकांच्या सर्व अपेक्षांपलीकडे जाऊन 'समांतर'ने प्रादेशिक वेब शो अशी ओळख प्राप्त केली आहे. भाषेचाअडथळा मोडकळीत काढत, सर्व भाषिक प्रेक्षकांना या वेब शो ने आपलंस केलंय. 'समांतर'चा पहिला सिझन येऊन आता वर्ष उलटले असून मलामाहित आहे की, प्रेक्षक आता सिझन २ ची आतुरतेने वाट पाहात आहेत. सिझन २ मध्ये कुमारचा प्रवास एका अनपेक्षित वळणावर येणार असून यातहा प्रश्न उपस्थित होणार आहे, की जर तुम्हाला तुमचं भविष्य माहित असेल, तर ते बदलणे शक्य आहे का?''

सुदर्शन चक्रपाणीची भूमिका साकारणारे ज्येष्ठ अभिनेते नितीश भारद्वाज सांगतात, ''एक अभिनेता म्हणून माझ्या नव्या रुपाला सिझन १ मध्ये खूपचचांगला प्रतिसाद मिळाला. प्रेक्षक सुद्धा नवनवीन संकल्पना स्वीकारत आहेत, हे पाहून खूपच छान वाटतंय. एक अभिनेता म्हणून या अनोख्याकथानकाचा भाग होण्यासाठी मी उत्सुक आहे. चक्रपाणीचे आयुष्य कुमारच्या जीवनाचे प्रतिबिंब होईल, की काही मनोरंजक वळणे घेत कुमारच्याउत्तरांच्या शोधाचे अनुसरण करत राहील ? हे सिझन २ पाहिल्यावरच कळेल.''
