ऑनर किलिंगच्या बातम्या आपण वेळोवेळी ऐकत, वाचत किंवा पाहात असतो. नुकतचं ऑनर किलिंग टाळण्यासाठी पुण्याल्या एका मुलीनं कोर्टात धाव घेतली होती. तर अहमदनगरच्या पारनेर तालुक्यात कथित ऑनर किलिंगची घटना घडली आहे.

या घटनांचे पडसाद आपल्याला सोशल मीडियावरसुद्धा उमटताना सुद्धा दिसत आहेत.

सोशल मीडियावर ऑनर किलिंगचं समर्थन करणाऱ्याही काही प्रतिक्रिया पहायला मिळत आहेत. कुटमुलगे मल्हारी यांनी फेसबुकवरील प्रतिक्रियेत लिहिलंय की, "मुली यासाठी वाढवतात का? जे झालं ते अगदी बरोबर आहे. हत्येचं समर्थन करत नाही, पण मुलांनी थोडा तरी विचार करायला हवा होता. घरच्यांना किती लोक नावं ठेवत असतील."

सागर रणदिवे यांनी लिहिलंय, की "त्या आई-वडिलांनी जे केलं ते चूकच, पण आई-वडिलांच्या पाठीत खंजीर खुपसनं कितपत योग्य?"

शंकर बिळे यांनी यूट्युबवरील कमेंटमध्ये म्हटलंय की, "ही असली लफडी करणारी पोरं समाजाला बिघडवतात". तर सुमीत एमएच म्हणतात, की अभ्यास सोडून कशाला असले धंदे करतात काय माहीत?

आंतरजातीय विवाह आणि त्यामुळे होणाऱ्या ऑनर किलिंगच्या प्रकारांमध्ये दिवसेंदिवस वाढ होत आहे, असं सामाजिक कार्यकर्त्यांचं म्हणणं आहे.

औरंगाबादमधील सामाजिक कार्यकर्त्या मंगल खिंवसरा यांच्या मते ऑनर किलिंगच्या घटनांसाठी पितृसत्ताक पद्धती जबाबदार आहे.

त्या सांगतात, "बाईनं स्वत:चे निर्णय स्वत: घ्यायचे नसतात. तिला बरं-वाईट काही कळत नाही. तिनं काहीही बोलायला नको, कारण त्यामुळे घराची प्रतिष्ठा कमी होते, अशी पितृसत्ताक पद्धती आपल्याकडे आहे. त्यामुळे अशी पावलं उचलली जातात."

'माणसापेक्षा जात महत्त्वाची'

बीडमधल्या सामाजिक कार्यकर्त्या मनीषा तोकले यांच्या मते या प्रकारच्या घटनांसाठी जातीय मानसिकता कारणीभूत आहे.

त्या सांगतात, "आपल्याकडे जातीय मानसिकता प्रबळ होत चाललीये. कारण जातीमुळे येणारी आर्थिक, सामाजिक, मानसिक ताकद हातातून निसटेल, अशी भीती यामागे असते. यामुळेच मग उच्च जातीतील लोकांना खालच्या जातीतील लोकांवर अन्याय करणं सोपं होत चाललं आहे. जातीय मानसिकता, खोटी सामाजिक प्रतिष्ठा आणि सत्तेचा हव्यास यामुळे आंतरजातीय विवाह करणाऱ्या मुला-मुलींना संपवलं जातं."

"माणसापेक्षा जात महत्त्वाची अशी जी मानसिकता तयार झाली आहे, ती बदलायला हवी. घरातली स्त्री मग ती बायको, बहीण, आई कुणीही असली तरी ती म्हणजे आपली संपत्ती आहे, असं मानलं जातं. तिच्याकडे माणूस म्हणून पाहिलं जात नाही आणि म्हणूनच मग हे प्रश्न निर्माण होतात," तोकले पुढे सांगतात.

मानशास्त्रज्ञ हमीद दाभोळकर यांच्या मते, "आंतरजातीय विवाहांमुळे ऑनर किलिंगला बळी पडलेली मुलं-मुली हे खोट्या प्रतिष्ठेचे बळी आहेत. आपल्या कुटुंबाची प्रतिष्ठा वगैरे असं म्हणत या मुलांचा जीव घेतला जातो. पण ही प्रतिष्ठा खोटी असते. दैनंदिन जीवनातल्या बहुतांश गोष्टींवर जातीचा प्रभाव असतो, आणि मग याचंचं टोकाचं रुप म्हणजे आंतरजातीय विवाह केलेल्या तरुणांना मारून टाकलं जातं."

पर्याय काय?

ऑनर किलिंग टाळण्यासाठीच्या पर्यायांविषयी सांगताना खिंवसरा म्हणतात, "मुलांच्या प्रेम प्रकरणांबाबत पालकांनी गांभीर्यानं विचार करावा."

"ज्या आई-वडिलांनी जन्म दिला, त्यांचीच मुलांना भीती वाटत असेल तर पालकांनी याचा गांभीर्यानं विचार करायला हवा. कारण मुलं पालकांकडे सेफ्टी म्हणून पाहत असतात. त्यांना मुलांचा निर्णय पटत नसेल, तर त्यांच्याशी बोलायला हवं, पण मुलांच्या जीविताशी खेळण्याचा पालकांना अधिकार नाही. घटनेनं त्यांना स्वतंत्रपणे आयुष्य जगण्याचा अधिकार दिला आहे," असं खिंवसरा यांना वाटतं.

"स्वातंत्र्य, समता, बंधुता ही तत्वं मानणाऱ्या सर्वांनी आंतरजातीय किंवा आंतरधर्मीय विवाह करणाऱ्या जोडप्यांच्या पाठीशी उभं राहायला हवं," असं त्या पुढे सांगतात.

आंतरजातीय विवाहांना सरकारनं संरक्षण द्यावं, असं मनिषा तोकले यांचं मत आहे.

"आंतरजातीय विवाह करणाऱ्यांना संरक्षण द्यायला हवं. आंतरजातीय विवाह करणारी जोडपी आर्थिक दृष्ट्या सक्षम होतील, असे कार्यक्रम आखायला हवेत. जातीय मानसिकता कमी करणाऱ्यांसाठी कल्याणकारी योजना सुरू करायला हव्यात. आंतरजातीय विवाहांबाबत सर्व स्तरावर प्रबोधन व्हायला हवं," असं त्या सांगतात.

'पोलीस यंत्रणांनी दखल घ्यावी'

ऑनर किलिंग टाळण्याविषयी हमीद दाभोळकर सांगतात की, "मुलांना मालमत्ता न समजता, त्यांच्यावर फक्त अधिकार न गाजवता, जोडीदार निवडीविषयी कुटुंबियांनी त्यांच्याशी चर्चा केली पाहिजे."

"याशिवाय पोलीस यंत्रणेनं यासंबंधीच्या तक्रारींची वेळीच दखल घेतली आणि कारवाई केली, तर अशा प्रकरणांना चाप बसू शकतो."

"हरियाणा राज्यानं कायदा बनवून आंतरजातीय विवाह केलेल्या तरुणांसाठी 'प्रोटेक्शन होम' तयार केले आहेत. इतकंच नाही तर या प्रकरणांच्या सुनावणीसाठी फास्ट ट्रॅकची न्यायालयाची स्थापना केली आहे. त्यामुळे पोलिसांनी वेळीच दखल घेतली आणि हस्तक्षेप केला, तर ऑनर किलिंगला जरब बसू शकते," ते दुसरा पर्याय सांगतात.

असं असलं तरी हरियाणातल्या सेफ होममध्ये राहणाऱ्या जोडप्यानं त्याविषयी आक्षेप नोंदवले आहेत.

"इथं सेफ होम आहे, पण तिथं एकच रूम होती आणि त्या रुममध्ये सगळ्या जोडप्यांना अॅडजस्ट व्हावं लागत होतं. खाण्याचा खर्च आम्हालाच द्यावा लागत असे. पाण्याची सुविधाही नव्हती," असं आंतरजातीय विवाह केलेल्या आणि सेफ होममध्ये राहणाऱ्या एका मुलानं बीबीसीला सांगितलं होतं.

सरकार या जोडप्यांना आर्थिक मदत देऊ, असं म्हणत असलं तरी त्यांना अद्याप कोणतीही मदत मिळालेली नाही, अशी या जोडप्याची तक्रार आहे.
