लॉकडाऊन घोषित झाल्यावर आपण कायमचेच इथं अडकून पडलो तर आपलं काय होईल? या भीतीने 16 कामगार पुण्यातून पायी चालत निघाले. हे सर्व कामगार मूळचे मध्यप्रदेशातील छिंदवाडा जिल्ह्यातील आहेत.
आठ दिवस 400 किमीहून अधिक प्रवास केल्यावर ते परभणीला पोहोचले. तिथे प्रशासनाने त्यांना थांबवून घेतलं. त्यांच्यापैकीच एक प्रकाश यादव यांनी आपला अनुभव बीबीसीला सांगितला आहे...

आम्ही मजूर लोक. काम करून पोट भरणं आम्हाला माहिती आहे. जितकं पोटाला लागेल तितकं आम्ही कमवतो. पण पुण्यात आम्ही अडकून पडलो आणि आमचे खायचे-प्यायचे हाल होऊ लागले.
पुण्यातील वाघोली येथे एका कंस्ट्रक्शन साईटवर आम्ही काम करत होतो. आमच्या जिल्ह्यातले अनेक कामगार येथे येऊन काम करतात. एकमेकांच्या ओळखीने आम्हाला काम मिळतं. मला तीन महिन्यांपूर्वी या साइटवर काम मिळालं म्हणून मी घर सोडून इकडे आलो.
छिंदवाड्यातील हिमगावाडा येथे माझं घर आहे. माझं वय 36 वर्षं आहे आणि मला चार मुलं आहेत. माझं लग्न लवकरच झालं होतं. मला मुलंही लवकर झाली. माझी मोठी मुलगी 18-19 वर्षांची आहे. तिच्या लग्नासाठी पैसे लागतील म्हणून कमवण्यासाठी मी इकडे आलो होतो.
कामही व्यवस्थित चालू होतं आणि तिच्या लग्नासाठी पैसेही बाजूला ठेवत होतो. 22 मार्चला जनता कर्फ्यू झाला आणि 25 मार्चपासून लॉकडाऊन झालं. आम्हाला वाटलं हे लॉकडाऊनही जनता कर्फ्यूसारखं असेल. पण हे थोडं वेगळंच वाटू लागलं.
मोदीजींनी सांगितलं की घराबाहेर पडू नका. तेव्हापासून आमच्या साईटवरचं काम बंद झालं. आमच्या ठेकेदाराने सांगितलं लॉकडाऊन संपल्यावर पुन्हा काम सुरू करू, तोपर्यंत तुम्ही इथंच थांबा. तुमच्या खाण्यापिण्याची व्यवस्था आम्ही करू.

आम्ही सात-आठ दिवस कसे बसे काढले. पुण्याहून अनेक लोक बाहेर पडताना आम्ही पाहू लागलो होतो. आमचं तर इकडे लक्षच लागत नव्हतं. त्यानंतर आम्ही ठरवलं की छिंदवाड्याला पायी निघायचं. 700-800 किलोमीटर पायी चालायचा निर्णय आम्ही घेतला आणि 8 एप्रिलला आम्ही तिथून निघालो.

रस्त्याने आमच्यासारखे अनेक जण पायी जाऊ लागले होते. आम्ही दिवस रात्र चाललो. रात्री उन्हाचा त्रास होत नाही म्हणून पटापट चालणं होऊ लागलं. दुपारी 11-12 वाजले की एखाद्या झाडाची सावली पाहून आम्ही झोपी जायचो. पुन्हा तीन चार वाजता उठायचं आणि चालायला लागायचं असं आम्ही करत होतो.
गावामागून गावं येऊ लागली होती, पण सगळीकडचे हॉटेल बंद होते. खायला-प्यायला काहीच नव्हतं. मग एखादं किराणा दुकान उघडं दिसलं तर तिथून बिस्किट घेऊन आम्ही ते खाऊ लागलो. एकदा पोलिसांनी आम्हाला विचारलं की तुम्ही कुठे निघालात. त्यांना आम्ही सांगितलं तेव्हा पोलिसांनी आमच्या जेवणाची व्यवस्था केली. जेवण झाल्यावर आम्ही पुन्हा निघालो.
असं आठ दिवस चालल्यानंतर 16 एप्रिलला आम्ही परभणीला पोहोचलो. इथे पोलिसांनी आम्हाला सांगितलं की लॉकडाऊन तीन मे पर्यंत वाढला आहे.
इथल्या अधिकाऱ्यांनी आमची तपासणी केली. कुणाला ताप, सर्दी आहे का, ते पाहिलं आणि कृषी विद्यापीठाच्या हॉस्टेलमध्ये आमची राहण्याची सोय केली. 3 मे पर्यंत आम्हाला इथेच राहायला सांगण्यात आलं आहे.
या हॉस्टेलमध्ये आमच्यासारखे किमान 50 जण अडकून पडलेले आहेत. कुणी मध्यप्रदेशचं आहे, कुणी छत्तीसगडचं, कुणी आंध्रप्रदेशातलं आहे तर काही जण महाराष्ट्रातलेच आहेत.
या ठिकाणी राहायला असलेले बहुतेक लोक माझ्यासारखेच मजूर आहेत. 16 एप्रिलला आमची तपासणी झाल्यावर आम्हाला दुपारी 12 वाजता इथे आणून टाकलं आहे. पुढे आम्हाला कधी जाऊ देतील याचा आम्हाला काहीच पत्ता नाही.

गावाकडे माझी आई आहे. ती म्हातारी आहे. तिला माझी खूप काळजी वाटते. तू काही करून इकडे लवकरात लवकर ये, असं ती सांगते. मला काही झालं तर कोण पाहील, असं तिला वाटतं.
आम्हाला आधी वाटत होतं 14 एप्रिलला हे लॉकडाऊन उठेल, पण ते उठलं नाही. आता 3 तारखेला लॉकडाऊन उठणार, असं सांगितलं जात आहे. पण समजा तीन तारखेला उठलं नाही आणि आम्हाला काही झालं तर कोण काय करणार आहे?
आम्ही आणखी असं किती दिवस इथं दुसऱ्याच्या भरवशावर बसायचं? इथे आमची व्यवस्था आहे, पण गावाकडे काही झालं तर त्यांच्याकडे कोण पाहणार. इथं ठेवण्यापेक्षा सरकारने आम्हाला सोडावं आणि घरी जाऊ द्यावं. आम्ही आताही पायी जायला तयार आहोत.

सगळ्या मजुरांमध्ये भीतीचं वातावरण आहे. प्रत्येकाला चिंता वाटत आहे की आपल्या घरचे लोक कसे असतील. जर तीन तारखेनंतर लॉकडाऊन वाढला तर आम्ही काय करणार तुम्हीच सांगा.
सुरुवातीला या ठिकाणी गच्ची तरी मोकळी होती. आम्ही गच्चीवर जाऊन मोकळी हवा खाऊ शकत होतो, पण आता गच्ची देखील बंद केली आहे. आम्ही गावाकडचे लोक आहोत आम्हाला मोकळ्या हवेची सवय आहे. पण आता गच्ची बंद आहे आणि गेटलाही कुलूप असतं. आम्ही इथून काही पळून जाणार नाहीत, पण थोडं अंगणात आम्हाला फिरू दिलं तर बरं वाटेल.

आमचा एकूण दोन महिन्यांचा रोजगार बुडाला आहे. त्यानंतर कधी काम शोधणार आणि कधी पैसे मिळणार हे पण मला माहीत नाही. आता पुन्हा पुण्याला जाऊन मजुरी करण्याचा मी विचार करूच शकत नाही. तिकडेच काम शोधणार. जे मिळेल ते घरीच पाहील. घरी गेल्यावर आमचे प्रश्न सुटतील असं नाही, पण किमान घरी सगळे एकत्र असले की धीर तरी येतो.
